We are excited to share that Good Neighbors GTX has been featured in The Sunday Sun! This recognition marks an incredible milestone in our journey to support families in need across Georgetown, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come in such a short amount of time.
In the article, written by Kaitlyn Wilkes, our story is highlighted, showcasing how Good Neighbors GTX was founded by Susan Cox and a group of like-minded women in fall 2023. Together, they’ve built a nonprofit organization that provides clothing, food, and other essential items to families in crisis, especially focusing on young women and children. What truly sets us apart is our approach—rather than waiting for families to come to us, we go directly to them. Many families don’t have transportation, and this ensures they get the support they need, no matter what.
In just over a year, we’ve partnered with organizations like STARRY, Mommie Support Network, and local churches to provide not just basic needs but also a sense of community. We’ve distributed over $47,000 worth of goods in our first year alone, proving that when people come together with compassion and purpose, incredible things happen.
The article also touches on the heart of our work: We don’t just hand out items—we engage with the community. Through our partnerships and donations, we’ve been able to provide not only clothing and food but also blankets, mattresses, and even gift certificates. Our flexibility allows us to meet the diverse needs of those we serve, and we’re committed to helping as many families as possible.
We are grateful for the support we’ve received from everyone involved, including volunteers, donors, and partners. And this newspaper feature is a testament to the power of community working together.
As we look to the future, we’re excited about expanding our partnerships with retailers like Toms and Bombas to offer even more affordable products for those in need. There’s still so much more to do, and we are dedicated to meeting every challenge that comes our way.
If you’d like to be part of this exciting journey, you can always donate, volunteer, or spread the word about Good Neighbors GTX. Every little bit makes a huge difference. To learn more about how you can help, visit https://gngtx.org/how-to-help.
Thank you for your continued support, and we can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in the coming months and years!
