Meet Our Team

I’m Susan Cox, and I’ve lived in Georgetown for over ten years with my husband, Rick. We have five children—three girls and two boys—and five beautiful granddaughters. I was raised in a home where faith and serving others were paramount, which instilled in me a lifelong commitment to helping those in need. I’m passionate about Good Neighbors GTX and focus on supporting single mothers, drawing from my own experiences as a single mom. Cooking brings me joy, whether I’m alone or with loved ones. I also love playing the piano, leading Bible studies and women’s retreats, and spending time outdoors with Rick and our dog, Lucy. Traveling to the East Coast to see family is another favorite pastime. Fun facts about me: it took me 47 years to graduate from college, color is my love language, and country, classical, and Christian music are tabs on my radio.

I’m Liz Issleib, and I grew up in the Austin area, where my parents taught me the importance of serving others. For many years, I’ve dedicated myself to children’s ministry, finding joy in nurturing young hearts. My passion for mission work drives me to make a meaningful impact in my community. I believe that small acts of kindness can spark transformative change, and I strive to embody the love of Jesus in every interaction. Throughout my life, I’ve volunteered with various organizations, always seeking opportunities to uplift families and children in need. In my free time, I enjoy organizing community events and participating in local outreach programs. I cherish moments spent with friends and family, fostering meaningful relationships. My journey of faith and service continues to inspire me, and I’m excited to encourage others to join me in making a positive difference in our communities.

I’m Carrie Marshall, and my husband, Michael, and I moved to Georgetown, TX, in 2014 to care for my aging parents. Growing up in a small rural community, I learned the value of helping neighbors from my parents, who regularly checked in on those in need. This early lesson ignited my lifelong passion for serving others. Over the years, I’ve contributed to various churches, nonprofits, and volunteer organizations. When I learned about Good Neighbors GTX, it resonated with me deeply, as my mother was raised by a single mom who faced many challenges. Through GNGTX, I feel blessed to help children in similar situations. In addition to my service work, I enjoy cooking for others, exploring historical sites with Michael, attending theater and music events, reading, and taking nature walks.

I’m Cheryl Coy, and I’ve called Georgetown home for over 12 years. I see the world and my community as places of great abundance, and I find joy in sharing that abundance through my time and resources. My passion for helping neighbors is deeply rooted in my faith, which makes my involvement with Good Neighbors GTX a natural fit. As the storage coordinator for GNGTX, I combine my expertise in Engineering Technology and Individual, Family, and Community Service to support the organization’s mission. I take pride in organizing donations and ensuring families in need receive essential items. When I’m not working on nonprofit projects, I enjoy spending quality time with my children and five grandchildren, who bring me immense joy. I also love tending to my flower garden, where I find peace and inspiration. I believe that every act of kindness contributes to the greater good and strengthens community bonds.

I’m Gayle Shanks, and I’ve been involved with Good Neighbors GTX since 2023. I live in California and have enjoyed over 40 years of friendship with Susan, sharing many life experiences, including work, family, and personal challenges. My background includes community affairs, corporate development, education, and human resources. Within my faith community, I have led family crisis teams, prayer groups, and programs focused on supporting families and children. My motivation to serve with GNGTX stems from my desire to embody the example of Jesus as a woman of God. For me, service to women and families knows no boundaries, and I’m passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of those in need. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, participating in community events, and engaging in activities that foster connection and support. I believe that everyone can make a difference, no matter how small the effort.

I’m Becky Scogin, and my husband, Bill, and I moved to Georgetown 11 years ago from Corpus Christi to be closer to our children and grandchildren. We have five kids—Robert, Emileigh, Sean, Tom, and Wesley—and eight grandkids, including six grandsons and two granddaughters ranging from 20 to 4 years old. After a fulfilling 38-year career as an operating room nurse specializing in brain, spinal cord, and orthopedic surgery, I’m now enjoying my retirement. Crafting is a passion of mine; I’ve been making greeting cards and other paper products for over 20 years and enjoy hosting classes at my home. I also love being part of a bowling team, which I’ve done for the past eight years, and I participate in weekly Bible studies to strengthen my faith. I recently joined Good Neighbors GTX and look forward to connecting with others who share my commitment to supporting families in our community.

I’m Amanda Cox-Floyd, and I live in Stafford with my husband—my best friend, whom I married in March 2025—our two cats, Nox and Luna, and my 9-year-old stepdaughter, who brightens our home on the weekends. I work as a children’s librarian and have a passion for connecting kids with great books and big ideas. Raised by a single mom, I understand the challenges many of our families face and am grateful to be part of a mission that offers practical help and genuine love. I believe in lifelong learning, the power of community, and the magic of a well-timed Lego build.

I’m Kathleen Smith and have lived in Central Texas since I was 2 years old. I got here as fast as I could!  Dwain and I have been married for 36 years.  We have 2 daughters, a son in law, and 4 amazing grandkids!  I grew up in a family that loved the Lord and shared that love by serving others. I have volunteered in numerous ways my entire life…. including meals on wheels, mission trips, food pantries, Caring Place, church, and helping in the schools. Serving others is my passion and I’m excited to help those who have need in our community. I feel the Lord blesses us so we can bless others. I enjoy spending free time exercising, learning more about nutrition (I have a BS in dietetics from UT Austin), being outdoors at our home, spending time with my family, attending Bible Study, reading, organizing (which might serve me well with GNGTX), and traveling…. especially to Italy where one of my daughters lives.
